Qualifications

Applicants must have a good driving record and the ability to learn to safely operate a 40 foot transit bus. Applicant must be able to establish and maintain courteous, friendly and effective relations with passengers, the public and fellow employees. Must have basic reading, writing and math skills and follow written and oral instructions. Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Applicants must be 21 years of age. A commercial driver’s license is not needed to apply.

Financial Accounting Manager

Description

The Accounting Manager manages the accounting staff and provides analytical and technical management for Capital, Operating and RTA budget preparation. This is accomplished by analyzing financial and operational data; tracking funding and expenditure capability; projecting revenues and expenditures; preparing financial and budgetary reports and analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts.

Qualifications

Work requires broad knowledge of Accounting and GAAP. Two year degree in Accounting required and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred. Three years of relevant experience in a professional accounting department required and one year of experience managing accounting employees required.

Functions

  • Manages staff by maintaining open communication; reviewing and overseeing duties performed, provides input to Finance Director on hiring, disciplinary actions and work objectives, performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed.
  • Tracks funding and expenditures by compiling and maintaining capital program purchase documentation; tracking monthly capital program expenditures; maintaining RTA subsidiary schedules; maintaining source documentation and archive of historical data, both financial and operational.
  • Analyzes monthly/annual operation and financial data by performing budget to actual variance analysis; performing trend analysis; projecting revenues and expenditures and conducting research for special projects.
  • Analyzes and reconcile general ledger accounts by performing various accounting functions and assisting with month and year end closings.

Supervisor/Dispatch

Description

Supervises bus operations as a dispatcher or a road supervisor. Tracks operators for safety, schedule, and route adherence. Responds to road breakdowns, detours, accidents, and passenger incidents and takes appropriate action. Completes and routes appropriate forms and reports. Investigates major accidents/passenger incidents; determines the need for post-accident drug/alcohol testing; prepares and routes required reports. Assesses seriousness of passenger injuries ensuring proper response by emergency personnel. Records tardy and absent operators. Assigns replacement operators. Assigns buses to specific runs. Answers operator requests for time off; approves and adjusts driver schedules accordingly. Maintains operator database, including overtime cards. Receives customer complaints; completes and routes required forms; discusses complaint with operator. Maintains daily logs and routes required reports.

High school diploma and four years’ experience related to job tasks or equivalent. Two years of college may substitute for up to two years of the required experience. Must be computer literate. Bus Stop Cleaning Crew Member

Salary

Major Functions

Picking up trash from the bus stop pad and the immediate area around the stop; sweeping the bus stop pad; thoroughly removing the trash from the trash can or receptacle; replacing the trash bag in the can or receptacle. Using the power washer to remove dust, dirt, spilled fluids, urine, feces and other undetermined liquids and/or solid waste. Using the graffiti removal aerosol and a rag to remove graffiti. Must be responsive to a change of plans and a break-off route to clean random stops. Properly dispose of collected trash at either a Sun Tran or City of Tucson trash dumpsters. Thoroughly clean and sanitize the Company vehicle and clean the exterior as necessary. Fuel the Company vehicle, the power washer and associated gas can(s). Fill the water trailer. Conduct a post-trip of the Company vehicle to ensure there is not any mechanical malfunction and /or body damage. Accurately complete the vehicle “Weekly Service Log”. Attend a brief post-work meeting and report and PPE needs to your supervisor.

MUST possess a valid AZ driver’s license, Class B CDL with passenger designation, ability to pass an AZ DOT physical, successfully complete training programs with post-training qualification period, successful completion of drug and alcohol testing, ability to be re-certified periodically on Standard Operating Procedures as well as through examination on all rules and hands-on proficiency, ability to write clear and concise reports and must be available to work weekends, holidays and evening hours.

Functions

Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations; assist passengers with special needs including offering assistance in boarding or de-boarding disabled passengers; provide information to passengers regarding service area; troubleshoot and operate malfunctioning light rail vehicles; operate track switches and provide hand signals or traffic flagging. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and evening hours.

Functions

Perform safety and preventive maintenance inspections of vehicles, systems, and equipment. Documents defects, maintenance, and repairs. Tests, maintains, repairs, and overhauls streetcar vehicle electrical, electronic and mechanical systems and equipment in accordance with schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, operations manuals and manufacturer instructions. Operates and maintains shop equipment and tools. Must maintain a personal toolbox on-site with general specific tools (list provided). Makes time and material cost estimates and maintains records.

Performs re-railing of equipment. Repairs, replaces or modifies electronic and electrical components and defective parts for a variety of equipment and systems controls. Troubleshoots analog and solid-state electronic systems. Installs special electronic testing systems; installs communication devices on cars. Services and maintains microprocessor control systems. Inspects new microprocessor and solid state systems installed by contractors. Calibrates and repairs test equipment. Maintains parts inventory and computer inventory records. Operates computers for testing, diagnosing, fault log management, and related data input and retrieval. Maintains a safe and clean shop area. Prepares various activity and status reports, documents defects and repairs on inspection forms, work orders, or designated computer programs. Operations Road Supervisors

Qualifications

High School Diploma and four years in the transportation industry. Two years of college may substitute for up to two years of required experience. Intermediate computer skills required (Trapeze and Microsoft experience preferred). Previous supervisory experience a plus.

Major Functions

  • Monitor safe driving habits and on-time performance of van operators.
  • Assure all van operators follow safety procedures by performing follow-up observations of all dangerous and unsafe situations.
  • Prepare and issue van operator performance evaluations, road checks and disciplinary action.
  • Facilitate problem solving by conducting follow-up investigations of complaints.
  • Supervisor assists with accident/incident investigation. Proceeds to the scene and obtains and records complete, pertinent information.
  • Assist with the scheduling of driver’s shifts.
  • Assist the maintenance department by changing out buses and trouble-shooting radios, MDT’s and video cameras.
  • Assists with some aspects of Operator’s training.
