Paratransit Overview
Sun Van makes getting around the Tucson area simple for those eligible to ride. Sun Van meets the standards set under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) to provide service for those individuals who, because of their disability, are unable to ride Sun Tran.
Paratransit Eligibility
Individuals determined to be ADA paratransit eligible with a current ADA Eligibility letter form the City of Tucson ADA Paratransit Eligibility Office. Sun Van does not provide transportation services based on age or social service’s needs.
If you do not have an ADA Eligibility letter, you must apply for one at the City of Tucson’s ADA Eligibility Office.The eligibility evaluation process begins with an application for ADA Paratransit Eligibility Certification, and may require contact with the applicants’ references and an in-person assessment of travel skills. Persons determined to be unable to utilize Sun Tran’s services because their disability prevents them from doing so, will be approved to ride Sun Van.

Paying Paratransit Fares
Fares are collected electronically at the time you reserve your ride. Customers must have a sufficient balance available in their Sun Van account prior to scheduling a trip. Drivers cannot accept cash.
Setting Up & Managing Your Payment Account

Reserving A Ride On Paratransit
Reservations are accepted by phone one to seven days in advance. Reservations can be made 7 days a week from 7 AM to 4 PM.

Please provide the Sun Van reservationist with the following information:
- Your name as it is on your ADA Eligibility letter.
- Date you wish to travel.
- Address of your pick-up and destination locations. Be specific, including suite and/or building numbers, doctor’s name, etc.
- Desired arrival time.
- Return time to your place of origin or, arrival time at your next destination.
- Reserve a seat for a Personal Care Attendant (PCA), child or guest traveling with you.
