FARES, TRANSFERS & PASSES

Sun Shuttle fares vary depending on the type of service you are using.  Please view the details below to ensure you have the exact fare available when boarding Sun Shuttle, as vehicle operators are unable to make change.  When utilizing a discount or reduced rate to ride Sun Shuttle, proper ID is required.

Passengers on most Sun Shuttle routes can pay the transit fare with a pass loaded on a SunGO Card or SunGO ID & Card, or pay cash. The only accepted ID as proof of economy fare qualification is the SunGO ID & Card. Learn more about SunGO. Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride passengers may have other payment options, which are noted below.

Dial-a-Ride Service – Green Valley/Sahuarita

Passengers can utilize curb-to-curb service within the blue zone indicated on the map, or travel to and from the optional yellow stops for a more cost-effective trip.  All trips require a reservation one to seven days in advance.

Dial-a-Ride Service Oro Valley

Passengers can utilize curb-to-curb service for those traveling in Oro Valley.  Service areas and fares vary for seniors, persons with disabilities, or the general public.

Oro Valley Dial-a-Ride Fares

Senior Service  
Persons 65 years of age and older are eligible to utilize Sun Shuttle's Dial-a-Ride service in the senior service area as long as a round-trip originates in the blue zone.
Fares vary depending on in which zone you end your trip. B = Blue; Y = Yellow; G = Green

Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride (Formerly Handicar)***

Sun Shuttle provides Dial-a-Ride service for individuals with disabilities who live within the eligible area, which includes parts of Pima County, Central Tucson and portions of Marana and Oro Valley. Effective February 1, 2017, Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride will distinguish between two different types of service:  Complementary ADA and Optional Paratransit Service. 

Complementary ADA Service, Full Fare $3.00
ADA Service, Low-Income* Fare $1.50
Optional Service, Full Fare $5.00
Optional ADA Service, Low-Income* Fare $3.50

 

Optional Service includes:

• Trips starting or ending more than ¾ mile from nearby fixed routes for Sun Tran, Sun Link and Sun Shuttle
• Same Day requests
• Will call scheduling
• Trips scheduled outside service hours for nearby fixed routes

Payments are made with Pima County vouchers, which can be purchased at the Special Services Office, 35 W. Alameda. View the Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride Brochure.

Route 486 Ajo to Tucson Fares

Fares vary from $1 to $7.50 depending on where the trip start and ends. For details, view the Route 486 brochure.

Transfers from Sun Tran

Sun Shuttle Routes 401-450 honor valid Sun Tran transfers. An additional charge is required when boarding Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride service in Sahuarita/Green Valley or general public service in Oro Valley with a Sun Tran transfer. No transfers allowed on Oro Valley senior, ADA Dial-a-Ride service, Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride Service, or on Sun Shuttle Route 486 Ajo.

Passes

Sun Shuttle Routes 401-450 honor the following Sun Tran passes on a SunGO Card, SunGO ID & Card or SunGO Ticket: 1-Day Pass, 30-Day Pass (including full fare, economy, and express) and U-Pass. A surcharge is required when boarding Sahuarita/Green Valley or Oro Valley's general public Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride service with a Sun Tran pass. SunGO passes not allowed on Oro Valley senior or ADA Dial-a-Ride service, Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride (formerly Handicar), or Sun Shuttle Route 486 Ajo.

Economy Fare and Low-Income Qualifications
To be eligible for the economy fare and/or low-income fare, passengers must obtain a SunGO ID & Card from the Special Services Office, 35 W. Alameda, Tucson.  Call (520) 791-4100 for more information, or visit.

** Deviated Service
Sun Shuttle Route 410 and Route 421 passengers can schedule a pick-up or drop-off within 3/4 mile of these respective routes. For deviated services on a Monday, requests must be scheduled prior to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Other deviated service requests must be scheduled by 6 p.m. the previous day.
